Jeanerette mother loses everything in Thursday house fire
JEANERETTE, La. (KLFY) -- A house fire left a single mother and three children with nothing, officials said.
Jeanerette Fire Department was dispatched at 10:45 a.m. Thursday to a house fire in the 400 block of Martin Luther King Dr. Firefighters said 50% of the house was engulfed in flames on arrival. No one was home at the time of the fire.
The fire is suspected to be an electrical issue with a socket, authorities said.
The fire department is asking the community for donations. The family is accepting the monetary and clothing donations. Donations can be dropped off at the Jeanerette Fire Department on 1820 Martin Luther King Drive, the police station on 811 Canal St. or the St. Mary Fire Department on 1205 Big 4 Corners Road in Jeanerette.
