Topeka start-up businesses collaborate to learn and grow together
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Nearly 70 small businesses are combining their efforts and experiences to grow with each other.
For local shop owners like Angelique Olivia Taylor, growing a small business can be a challenge. Now with dozens of entrepreneurs working together, the opportunity to grow a business and get it to the next level is made easier.
"Although I had experience and knowledge in project management through the government system, it's different when you're trying to run your own business," Taylor said. "So, gaining the small business and state laws knowledge is imperative."
Omni Circle CEO Michael Odupitan says this network has been five years in the making. He says the community support along the way is crucial.
"Access to educational opportunities," Odupitan said. "We have an early stage and mid stage for individuals to learn about how to build their business. But the biggest thing we're trying to get through with all of the partners here is giving them access to capital. That's the biggest thing that we need. So, helping entrepreneurs get access to capital, we see the change that we want to see."
This is just the initial network. More entrepreneurs are encouraged to join to continue growing the start-up community.
