'Backyard party': Truck Yard officially opens in Bricktown next week
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — A popular Texas-based company has made its way to Oklahoma City.
After several delays, Truck Yard is finally opening its doors next week.
"Truck Yard is a laid back, backyard party kind of feel. We go with a lot of nostalgia here," said Alyssa Wood, director of marketing for Truck Yard.
Truck Yard is located right off I-40, in lower Bricktown, just south of Bass Pro Shops. The venue also has a large parking lot.
All are welcome at Truck Yard, even your four-legged friends. There are lots of seating options inside and outdoors.
"When you arrive you seat yourself, we don't have traditional waitstaff because part of what we like to do here is for everybody to feel like they have the time and the space to really enjoy themselves," said Wood.
There are QR codes on each table, allowing you to get food and drinks right to your table.
"We've got chef driven food trucks, so we invite local chefs to sell their food here, but we also feature our own food trucks," said Wood.
There's also lots of drinks to choose from.
"We've got all kinds of cocktails on draft, specialty flask cocktails for slightly fancier tastes, draft beers and pretty much the gamut of anything anybody would want," said Wood.
It doesn't stop at just food and drinks. There is free live music every day on its flat bed truck stage, outdoor games and there's even an Airstream turned into a karaoke and dance party room.
There will be special theme nights, the first one is for St. Patrick's Day on March 15.
The location is the company's first venture outside of Texas, so they made sure to add some Oklahoma flair.
From displaying our state animal to a tornado shaped chandelier.
You'll even find a room dedicated to famous Oklahomans like Toby Keith and Reba McEntire.
The journey to opening took a little longer than expected, with weather playing a big part.
"Making sure that we had surfaces that would dry quickly in the event of snow, ice, etc.," said Wood.
Truck Yard is already bringing a boost to the economy, adding around 40 new jobs.
They're also dedicated to helping those in the community.
"Whether you're a local chef entrepreneur who is getting your first food truck, trying to figure out that whole situation or if you're a local musician who maybe has not always had a stage to play on," said Wood.
If you plan to go, something to keep in mind is that after 9 p.m. it's 21 and up. Otherwise, it's a family-friendly spot.
There will also be security on site.
Truck Yard officially opens Tuesday, March 4.
