Broadalbin-Perth rolls in quarterfinal victory
BROADALBIN, NY (NEWS10) -- The #2 seed Broadalbin-Perth took care of business on their home floor Thursday night, beating Ichabod Crane 67-37 to advance to the Section 2 Class A Girls Basketball semifinals.
The Patriots jumped out to the early lead in their quarterfinal matchup, opening the contest on a 10-0 run. The defense was strong throughout the opening frame, allowing just 1 field goal in the first 8 minutes. Broadalbin-Perth held a 22-5 lead after the first quarter of play.
In the second it was more of the same from the hosts, extending their double-digit lead to 32 going into the half. Ichabod Crane was able to find a rhythm offensively after the break, however the Patriots continued to score as well, closing out the contest for the 30-point win.
Broadalbin-Perth was led by Molly Russom, who led the Patriots with 21 points in the contest, 16 of which were scored in the first half. Summer Perry with 18 points and Macie Perry with 12 points also helped lead the Patriots to the playoff victory.
With the win, Broadalbin-Perth advances to the Class A semifinals on Monday at Hudson Valley Community College. The Patriots will play Scotia-Glenville at 6 p.m.
