University in Kansas removes its DEI website
KANSAS (KSNT) - The Kansas University Medical Center has updated its website to remove its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) webpage. 27 News has contacted other universities in Kansas with the March 4 funding deadline just around the corner.
According to the Wayback Machine, the last archived version of the KU Medical Center's DEI webpage was on Dec. 18. The website now takes visitors to the KU Office of Civil Rights & Title IX website.
On the new webpage, KU has a preface that says:
This content is being reviewed in light of recent changes to federal guidance.

27 News contacted Kansas universities on Jan. 24 after President Donald Trump ordered all federal DEI staff be put on leave and again on Feb. 18 after the Trump administration gave schools two weeks to end diversity initiatives or risk losing federal money.
The deadline the Trump administration gave to end diversity initiatives at schools was two weeks from Feb. 18.
Emporia State University, Kansas State University, Pittsburg State University, and Wichita State University did not respond to our inquiries. The only school to give a formal response was Fort Hays State University.
"We do not anticipate any personnel or policy changes at this time," Fort Hays University spokesperson told 27 News on Jan. 28. "We are monitoring all potential legislation and executive actions related to DEI. The university will take appropriate action, should any action become necessary, to ensure compliance."
Over the last month, 27 News has looked at major businesses in Topeka that have rolled back their DEI initiatives and federal agencies that are evaluating the executive order to end DEI programs in the federal government.
