Another round of spring heat Friday for the Portland area
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The unseasonably warm temperatures continue Friday as highs near record-breaking conditions for the second day in a row.
Early morning fog will clear as sunny skies help warm temperatures well above the average for late February. Thursday's highs were the warmest felt in the region since October 2024. Another round of mid to upper 60s and even a chance for 70 degrees is expected around Portland on Friday.
Keep an eye on the south/southwestern sky on Friday night. A "Planet Parade" will take shape just after sunset as nearly five planets will be visible to the naked eye above the horizon. Skies are expected to remain cloud-free and mild.
Portland is ending the month of February warm and dry after seeing cooler and snowier conditions earlier in the month. Snow levels will drop from 10,000' to 6,000' this weekend, bringing light rain or mixed showers to the slopes. Current snowpack on Mt. Hood sits at a slight deficit.
March is expected to be slightly cooler and potentially wetter than average. Typically, Portland's temperatures warm throughout the month and end with highs near 60 degrees. Rain accumulation is nearly at four inches by the end of March with a slim chance for snow.
A slightly cooler and rainier forecast is taking shape for Portland this weekend. Temperatures will drop from Saturday to Sunday, then slowly rebound to near-average highs by the middle of next week. Scattered rain showers remain light in nature through the end of next week.
