Former Tottenham star Eric Dier feels he was mistreated during his time in England
Eric Dier, who has been enjoying a resurgence at Bayern Munich over recent months, has made an open admission about how he felt he was treated during his time with Tottenham Hotspur.
When Dier made the move to Bayern Munich a little over 12 months ago, there was a lot of cynicism about why a club of that size was interested in a player who was struggling to get into the Tottenham side.
The experienced centre-back had a strong second half of the season at the Allianz Arena following his switch in January, temporarily silencing his critics.
At the start of this campaign, the Englishman found himself falling down the pecking order at the Bundesliga giants after the manager who signed him, Thomas Tuchel, was replaced by Vincent Kompany.
However, once again, the former Spurs man has managed to force himself back into the Bayern starting eleven and has emerged as their most consistent defender over recent months.

Dier delivered another solid showing in Bayern’s thumping 4-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, a result which ensured that they maintained their eight-point lead over Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the table.
After the win, the former Spurs defender made an interesting revelation, admitting that he felt he was not “given a fair shake” during his time in the Premier League, adding that it drives him even more to prove himself in Germany.
When asked if he felt he was “written off” in England and this has given him a “point to prove”, Dier told ESPN (as relayed by Football.London): “Very much so. I didn’t feel like I was always given a fair shake during my time in England.
“I was motivated by that when I came here, and motivated to do well for this club, to try and play as best as I can individually and to help the team play as well as it can collectively. That is my main focus, but I definitely felt that a little bit when I left England.”
Vincent Kompany praises Dier
Kompany did not seem overly convinced with Dier when he first walked into the Bayern hot seat last summer, but the 31-year-old has seemingly won over the Man City legend, who has praised the former Tottenham star’s character and attitude.
Speaking last month, the Bayern boss said about Dier: “Eric is a player with a lot of experience who knows what to do in these moments. Players like Eric have character and always prioritise the team.”
