Tottenham confirm four Premier League fixture changes with potential Europa League boost
Tottenham Hotspur have just discovered the rearranged dates for their Premier League fixtures in April, with the new schedule coming as a boost to the club’s Europa League hopes.
With Tottenham having little to play for in the Premier League over the next few months, one would expect the Lilywhites to shift their focus to the Europa League as they aim to finish the season with silverware.
Spurs need to overcome AZ Alkmaar over two legs to seal their passage into the final eight of the competition.
While Tottenham will face sterner tests in the Europa League quarterfinal if they get there, they have now been boosted by the announcement of the new dates for their Premier League fixtures in April.
New dates announced for Tottenham Hotspur’s April fixtures
Tottenham Hotspur have now confirmed the rearranged dates of the four Premier League fixtures they are scheduled to play in April.
Ange Postecoglou‘s men will travel to Stamford Bridge for a big London Derby on April 3 before hosting Southampton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium three days later.
Nottingham Forest will be the next side to visit N17 on 21 April before Spurs round the month off with a trip to Anfield on 27 April.
Tottenham are scheduled to play two legs of their Europa League quarterfinals on 10 April and 17 April if they make it to the final eight. As it stands, Spurs play Wolves on April 12th, but one would imagine that will be rescheduled should Tottenham progress in Europe.
That means Spurs would likely have four days to prepare for the first leg and – fingers crossed – no Premier League game between the two legs.
Ange Postecoglou will take the Premier League seriously
There will be some fans who want Postecoglou to play a second-string side in the Premier League for the upcoming fixtures and focus entirely on the Europa League.
However, the Spurs head coach will be wary of that strategy as he would be aware of the importance of building a winning feeling and carrying momentum into the Europa League games.
While Postecoglou will rotate his squad, he also needs to balance that with his attempts to get Tottenham to a respectable league finish.
