Tottenham consider selling senior star as Ange Postecoglou ‘grows impatient’
Tottenham Hotspur are now reportedly considering listening to offers for one of the senior stars in his squad amidst his struggle for consistency this season.
Spurs have had to deal with a massive injury crisis this season and, in the absence of several key men, Ange Postecoglou would have expected many of his key players to step up and help them navigate through the crisis.
One of those who had an opportunity to do so was Yves Bissouma, particularly given that the club were without their other senior midfielder, Rodrigo Bentancur, for a sustained period after he was handed a lengthy suspension.
However, the Mali international has failed to be the driving force in the middle of the park for the Lilywhites, with his performances this season leaving a lot to be desired.
Ange Postecoglou has become impatient with Yves Bissouma
GiveMeSport have now claimed that Tottenham are ‘entertaining the possibility’ of offloading Bissouma when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
The former Brighton man enters the final year of his contract this June and there are thought to be no plans at the North London club to offer him an extension.
The report states that Spurs are ‘increasingly likely’ to sell Bissouma this summer, with the club expecting a few sides to come sniffing around the player at the end of the season.
The outlet adds that Ange Postecoglou has grown impatient with the 28-year-old’s inconsistent performances, with the player in line to be among the big names who exit Hotspur Way in the summer.
Bissouma is not good enough to get Spurs where they want to
Bissouma is undoubtedly blessed with raw talent. Although his passing and decision-making in possession might not be great, his ability to win the ball back and his press resistance should, in theory, make him a useful option.
However, we have seen enough evidence over the last three years that the midfielder lacks the mental fortitude to be an elite player.
Time and again, we have seen Bissouma hide in big games, particularly away from home, which is why it would be surprising if he is still at Spurs by the start of next season.
