Head of the Academy of the Sacred Heart is set to retire
GRAND COTEAU, La. (KLFY) -- The head of the Academy of the Sacred Heart will be retiring in July 2026, the school recently announced.
Yvonne Sandoz Adler has held the position of Head of School for the last eight years.
"While I have Cherished my time at the Academy and Berchmans, I am needed at home with my wonderful husband, children, and six (soon to be seven) grandchildren," she said in an announcement.
Adler, who has worked in education for over 40 years, said her plan was always to serve at the academy for 10 years before retiring. June 30, 2026, will mark 10 years.
Since Adler's announcement, the academy has taken to social media to celebrate Adler's tenure and accomplishments; which include renovations and improvements to parts of the school, the creation of new committees and groups, and new programs for students.
Director of Marketing Aimee Cotter said the early announcement of Adler's retirement gives the school time to find the next Head of School.
"She gave us all of this notice so that we've been able to establish a national search committee to try and identify a new head of school. And hopefully, that person will be hired and be able to be trained under her," Cotter said.
The chair of the search committee, Kristie Callais, said the committee will be a diverse group of trustees, faculty and staff, parents and alumni from both schools to conduct the national search.
