4 juveniles charged after stolen vehicle pursuit in Niagara County

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Four juveniles were detained and charged early Saturday morning after allegedly fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle across two municipalities, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office announced.
Police said at 4:25 a.m., a deputy saw a vehicle make a traffic violation in the area of Schultz Road in the Town of Wheatfield. When the deputy turned his lights and sirens on, the vehicle, which contained six juvenile males, allegedly failed to stop and continued northbound on Schultz Road.
The vehicle then struck a stop sign at Schultz and Moyer Roads, which became trapped underneath it, police said.
The suspect vehicle allegedly fled southbound on Shawnee Road and drove onto Erie Avenue in the City of North Tonawanda. Police said the vehicle then crossed over Division and Twin Cities Memorial Highway and continued onto the railroad tracks.
After losing control, the vehicle drove into the landscaping at 525 Wheatfield St. and then became stuck on the landscape blocks, officials said. The six occupants of the vehicle, which was reported stolen out of Grand Island on Friday, allegedly fled on foot and four were detained by police.
The juveniles were released on appearance tickets to their guardians and were charged with the following:
- third-degree criminal possession of stolen property
- second-degree obstruction of governmental administration
- third-degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle
- numerous vehicle and traffic citations
They are due to appear in Niagara County Youth Part Court at a later date.
