Cage Warriors champ Kennedy Freeman announces second generation UFC signing
Kennedy Freeman is headed to the UFC, the same banner under which her father made history.
On Friday, Freeman (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) announced her UFC signing. She will join her father, pioneering U.K. fighter Ian Freeman, in the UFC history books.
Details about when or vs. whom she will debut were not revealed. However, the UFC is headed to London on March 22, so it’s possible Freeman will land there.
Freeman, 26, is the Cage Warriors women’s bantamweight champion. In six professional fights, she has four knockouts and two decision victories. She most recently competed in November when she stopped Mafalda Carmona (7-3) on the stool between Round 4 and 5 to win the title.
She is coached by her father, who was the first British fighter in UFC history. Ian compiled a 3-2-1 record in the promotion including a first-round knockout of Frank Mir at UFC 38 in 2002.
Upon her debut, the Freemans will become the first father-daughter tandem in UFC history, and the third parent-child combination.
