Arson causes thousands in damage in Topeka
TOPEKA (KSNT) - A fire that was determined to be intentionally set caused thousands of dollars in damage to a house in central Topeka.
Rosie Nichols with the City of Topeka said in a press release fire crews were called around 2:15 a.m. on Dec. 13 to the 1400 block of Southwest Western Avenue for reports of a two-story house fire. When crews arrived they found flames and smoke coming from the house. The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.
Nichols said the blaze caused approximately $13,500 worth of damage. Working smoke detectors weren't found in the home. Fire investigators determined the fire was intentionally set.
