Portland weekend events include Christmas Ship Dinner Cruise, Fungi Film Fest
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Early holiday celebrations are still in store for the city of Portland.
Here are KOIN 6's picks of the top festive events and other happenings this weekend.
The Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition
When: Friday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m.
Where: Pioneer Courthouse Square, 701 SW 6th Ave, Portland, OR 97204
Several groups will compete in a “carol-off” to see who sings classic Christmas songs the best. The grand prize winner will go home with $1,000. Second and third-place winners, and the People’s Choice champ, will receive prizes as well.
Christmas Ship Dinner Cruise
When: Friday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m.
Where: Salmon Springs Dock, 1010 SW Naito Pkwy, Portland, OR 97204
For the 70th year of the Christmas Ship Parades, the Portland Spirit will continue its tradition of cruising during the event and giving attendees the best view of the boats. The $135 ticket for adults includes a three-course dinner and live piano performance.
‘80s Video Dance Attack Holiday Party
When: Friday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m.
Where: Revolution Hall, 1300 SE Stark St #203, Portland, OR 97214
Portland’s longest-running theme night dance party will have its holiday edition on Friday night. VJ Kittyrox will host the 21+ event as attendees party to ‘80s hit and holiday songs while wearing festive gear.
Crafty Wonderland Holiday Art + Craft Market 2024
When: Friday, Dec. 13 through Sunday, Dec. 15 at various times
Where: Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Portland, OR 97232
Crafty Wonderland’s Holiday Art + Craft Market will return with handmade local goods from a diverse array of vendors. Interested attendees must buy a pre-show ticket for Friday, or a general admission, timed-entry ticket for the remaining days.
Merry Everything: Winter Songs From Around the World
When: Friday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3 p.m.
Where: Newmark Theatre, 1111 SW Broadway, Portland, OR 97205
The Portland Gay Men’s Chorus will perform holiday tunes from a variety of different communities and countries. “Whether this time of year makes you want to celebrate, contemplate, or hibernate, you’ll be charmed and delighted as the Chorus gallivants through a beautiful world of peace, hope, and joy,” event organizers said.
Elf // Dress-up Night
When: Saturday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.
Where: Tomorrow Theater, 3530 SE Division St, Portland, OR 97202
PAM CUT’s Tomorrow Theater will screen Will Ferrell’s iconic Christmas comedy “Elf.” Moviegoers are encouraged to show up in their best elf garb.
Fungi Film Fest
When: Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3:30 p.m.
Where: Cinema 21, 616 NW 21st Ave, Portland, OR 97209
The Fungi Film Fest, “the world’s only film festival dedicated to the beauty, otherworldliness, and human influences of mushrooms, lichens, and micro fungi,” will screen 20 fungi-focused movies within a two-hour span.
