Three taken into custody after ATM robbery in Warr Acres
WARR ACRES, Okla. (KFOR) - Three people have been taken into custody after a robbery at an ATM, according to Warr Acres Police.
Police say officers responded to a Bank of American on Wednesday, December 11. Upon arrival, the victim told officers two men with ski masks approached him while he was using an ATM and demanded money. The victim refused and the two men began beating him before running away.
Shortly after the robbery, Oklahoma City Police officers found a rental vehicle from Houston, Texas on FLOCK cameras. They began searching the car knowing that crews from Texas have been doing these crimes recently.
Officials say the vehicle was later found in Wichita, Kansas, and before police in Kansas could find the car again, it was moving southbound on I-35. With help from OKCPD, officers stopped the vehicle as it entered Oklahoma City.
Three men were inside the vehicle. All three were detained and then taken into custody. Warr Acres Police later served a search warrant on the vehicle where detectives found multiple items used in the robbery.
According to police, the three men have been identified as 19-year-old John Perry of Houston, TX, 22-year-old Cortez Martin of Houston, TX and 33-year-old Tyrone Jones of Houston, TX. All three have been booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on Robbery and Conspiracy charges.
