Pakistan reports 924 killed, over 2,100 injuries in terror attacks this year
Pakistan’s National Assembly recently reported that 924 people were killed in 1,566 terrorist incidents over the past ten months. The report highlights the serious security situation in the country.
According to data from the National Assembly, 573 of the victims were security forces, which constitute 62% of the total casualties. This shows the heavy toll on Pakistan’s security personnel.
The National Assembly’s report also indicated that from January to October of this year, at least 2,121 people were injured in terrorist attacks across the country.
Out of the total injured, 1,353 were security forces, making up 64% of the casualties. This reflects the high vulnerability of Pakistan’s security forces to terrorism.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province witnessed the highest number of terrorist incidents during this period, with 948 attacks recorded. The region has been a focal point of the violence.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 583 people were killed, and 1,375 were injured in terrorist attacks. This highlights the province’s vulnerability to ongoing violence.
The report also noted that Balochistan ranked second in terms of terrorist incidents, with 582 attacks recorded. Over 300 people lost their lives in these attacks, and 644 were injured.
The report stated that the Taliban’s rise in Afghanistan has emboldened Pakistani insurgents, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has intensified attacks in the country, particularly in border regions.
In response to the escalating violence, the Pakistani military has ramped up counter-terrorism operations in various regions, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and along the Afghanistan border. These operations are expected to continue until all terrorist elements are eliminated.
The rising number of terrorist attacks in Pakistan, especially since the Taliban’s return to power, has led to significant loss of life and heightened security concerns. The Pakistani government and military are facing a critical challenge in maintaining security and stability.
