Married At First Sight couple ‘haven’t spoken since October’ after explosive secret row – as unexpected feud is revealed
MARRIED at First sight contestant Emma Barnes has told how she hasn’t spoken to her ex-husband and co-star Caspar Todd since October.
The 32-year-old revealed that relations finally soured between the pair, after an explosive row two months ago and they haven’t spoken since.
Emma and husband Caspar clashed from the start[/caption]Emma said: “We haven’t spoken since the beginning of October and that was an argument. Since then, we haven’t exchanged a word.”
But Emma, who’d never been in a relationship until her union with Casper on the show, revealed that she hoped they’d reconcile in the future. She told Ok magazine:
“I’m ready to chat and be friends when he wants to be. If he doesn’t want to, that’s okay. It’s just a shame because I’m not a bad person and we are so lucky to share this experience. I’m hoping time will heal. I think we’ll definitely end up meeting up. I might add him to my Christmas card list as an olive branch.”
Caspar and Emma were matched together by the MAFS UK experts becase they appeared to share similar values and aspirations.
But their relationship hit the rocks almost immediately and Casper seemed less attracted to Emma after likening her to his twin sister.
As the season played out, Caspar then confessed that he wasn’t feeling “that spark” he was “hoping to feel.”
Then on honeymoon he admitted that he didn’t find her attractive.
When Emma asked her husband: “Do you think I look sexy tonight?” Caspar responded, “No.”
Then by the time the commitment ceremonies rolled around, the relationship deteriorated further, after Caspar, a gardener by trade, accused the producers of f**cking with his life,” by pairing him with Emma as he said:
“I haven’t found her sexy and I have seen some of the same mannerisms with my sister as well. I tried to do it in the nicest way possible and I failed at that. If I lied would that be better.”
After his comments, the shows’ relationship expert stepped in to push Caspar to acknowledge the insensitivity of his comments.
But then their relationship seemed irretirevaibly broken down and they called it quits which left Emma in tears.
She said: “It’s over, my marriage is over. I wanted to come here and and walk down the aisle and walk out hand-in-hand with my husband. It’s such a shame I didn’t get someone to adore me and me adore them.’
But Emma, an investment sales manager, also admitted that she clashed with Caspar as they have very different love languages. Emma said that while’s into “acts of service” and gift giving, these did not resonate so much with her.”
She also added that neither had been in relationship’s before, so they both have disordered attachment styles.
She said: “Caspar and I have never been in relationships, which is quite rare at our age, so we both have a disorganized attachment style, which means we show and exhibit all three of the different attachment styles; anxious, avoidant and secure.
Mafs couples that have stood the test of time
Loved-up Tayah Victoria and Adam Aveling of series six fame had the first Mafs baby.
The pair couldn’t keep their hands off each other on the programme and quickly found their feet in the outside world, moving into Adam’s Doncaster home.
Just 18 months after meeting, the couple welcomed their daughter Beau.
Season five couple Michelle Walder and Owen Jenkins also managed to make their marriage work away from the cameras and had their first child in December.
Teacher Michelle, 29, has no regrets about taking part in the experiment. She told us: “I just feel very lucky and thankful that it has worked out – and excited for everything to come.”
Michelle and Owen were both sick of dating apps when they applied in 2019.
Owen recalled: “I had been out for some drinks with a friend after work.
“While he was out for a cigarette I was scrolling on Instagram waiting for him to come back in.
“The MAFS advert was the last thing I saw, and I joked, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if I signed up?’
“A few beers later when I was back at home I sent in the application, and the rest is history.”
Another couple to make Mafs UK history is Zoe Clifton and Jenna Robinson.
Despite a slight rocky start, where they clashed over Jenna’s vegan lifestyle, the show’s first same sex pairing are still going strong.
They even have a successful podcast together called Life With a Pod.
Jenna shed light on being involved in the show earlier this year when she told us: “We’re not legally married, and I never felt like we were. I definitely feel the process makes you take the relationship a lot more seriously and having the help of the experts… if you can survive that process it sets a firm foundation for a long-lasting relationship.”
