Amorim: I want my players to fight with each other!
Rasmus Hojlund scored two goals in the Europa League last night as Manchester United came back from a goal behind to beat Viktoria Plzen 2-1. We had lots of chances to wrap up the win before the final whistle though and Hojlund, who now has five goals in his last four appearances, was frustrated with Amad at the final whistle after not playing him in for his hattrick.
Speaking to the press on Friday, manager Ruben Amorim said he wanted to see that sort of passion from his players as it showed how much they cared.
For me, it’s perfect. We need to feel something. In this moment, we need to feel something. If we need to fight each other, it’s like a family. For me, it’s a very, very good sign. When you don’t care, you do nothing. When you care, you fight with your brother, with your mother, your father [laughs]. So, for me, it’s a very good sign.
After the game Hojlund spoke to MUTV about how things were progressing under the new manager but didn’t reference the spat with Amad.
We still need more time. It’s still very early days. It’s about getting our routines together and its getting there. But it still needs practice and time. I know it sounds odd, but we don’t get enough time on the training ground, so we have to train it during the matches. But it’s getting better and better.
