Woke theatre bosses issue warning over panto audiences in Cinderella yelling ‘behind you!’
WOKE theatre bosses have issued a warning over panto audiences yelling “behind you!”.
They have alerted sensitive theatregoers about potentially raucous audience participation and cheeky jokes in festive favourite Cinderella.
The Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury, Gloucs, said on its website: “Pantomime is a blast, but it often includes loud noises, lighting effects, audience interaction, and some jokes that only adults might understand. If you are bringing anyone under the age of 5 or someone with a sensitive disposition, please keep this in mind.”
However, for the more resilient, it is offering an adults-only version of the show, promising “dirty jokes, f-bombs, and outrageous antics that will have you and your friends in stitches”.
In nearby Cheltenham, the Everyman Theatre says its production of Aladdin is “loud and cheeky”.
It is offering what it calls a “relaxed” version for those likely to be offended.
Last month, the theatre issued a trigger warning regarding their pantomime.
Thin-skinned punters are alerted to the fact they might find some of the jokes offensive.
It comes despite the production being deemed suitable for school parties and even children under five.
The Everyman Theatre made the move ahead of its Christmas production of Aladdin.
It stars “Gloucestershire’s favourite dame, Kevin Brewis” as Widow Twankey.
The content warning states: “Panto is a lot of fun but sometimes it can be a little bit cheeky.”
