Dead body found near road in Welches: Deputies
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Law enforcement found a dead body near Welches on Friday, authorities said.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said they responded around 8:30 a.m. to reports of a dead person found near East Highway 26 and East Miller Road in an unincorporated part of Clackamas County near Welches.
Sheriff’s deputies located the dead body upon arrival.
The sheriff’s office said in a release that they are still working to identify the deceased person and the circumstances surrounding their death.
KOIN 6 News asked the sheriff’s office whether the body was that of Susan Lane-Fournier, a Brightwood resident who has been missing for a week. They did not respond specifically to that question and it remains unclear if the body is connected to the Lane-Fournier case.
Lane-Fournier's white 1992 pickup truck was discovered on Salmon River Road near the Green Canyon Way Trail on Nov. 23, one day after she was reported missing after not showing up for her shift at work.
The location of the dead body discovered Friday is four miles from where Lane-Fournier's truck was found.
Anyone with information about either case is encouraged to contact the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
This is a developing story. KOIN 6 News will update this article if more information becomes available.
