That is the equivalent of missing out on a full 24-hour day of festive fun.

The favourite pick-me-up remains the classic full English breakfast.
Several of the top suggestions featured eggs.
Dietitian Dr Carrie Ruxton said: “Eggs include the hangover-busting cysteine — an essential amino acid that reduces nausea and headaches by breaking down acetaldehyde, one of the worst by-products of alcohol metabolism.
“Eggs are also a source of high-quality protein which is proven to support appetite control, stopping you reaching for high calorie comfort foods later in the day.”
A spokesperson for British Lion Eggs, which commissioned the survey, said: “It’s clear from the research that Brits are suffering when it comes to hangovers, with many of us turning to food to help us through.
“We would never encourage over-indulgence in alcohol, but if you accidentally do, eggs are a nutrient-dense tasty and cost-effective food you can enjoy to get you back on the road to recovery”.
