The anti-nepo gen you NEVER see after they shunned limelight – from Gary Barlow’s son to Ulrika Jonsson’s nanny daughter

BEING the kid of a famous parent, such as Victoria and David Beckham, can open many doors – that are sure to help their offsprings finacially.

Thanks to her mum’s name, Kate Moss’ model daughter Lila, 21, started her career in modelling when she was just 14 and landed her first major campaign with Marc Jacobs Beauty a mere to years later.

Katie Price‘s daughter Princess, has also embarked on a mission to become a millionaire by the age of 20 – something she recently said was her ”goal”.

Determined to become a name in her own right, the 17-year-old beauty has already landed several lucrative deals, including Superdrug and PrettyLittleThing, and has already launched her very own jewellery range.

However, while many nepo babies are now pulling in the cash in the showbiz world thanks to their famous parents, there are also quite a few offsprings who’ve shunned the limelight – and instead have rather ‘regular’ jobs.

Not only are they rarely papped but many of these celeb kids are making the kind of money most average people in the UK would, with one kid earning just £15k.

Gary Barlow’s son Daniel – trainee doctor, £36k/year

Up until a few weeks ago when Daniel went viral online after he was seen towering over his dad Gary, not much was known about the 24-year-old.

In the post 5″7 Gary stood next to his shirtless 6″2 son with them both lifting weights and the eldest son of the Take That singer became an internet sensation.

Their height isn’t the only big difference between them, as Gary, 53, revealed that his three children have decided to snub fame.

The Rule The World hitmaker revealed: “The two oldest ones, Daniel and Emily [22], have kind of gone into medicine and physiology – studying strength and conditioning – and my youngest one, Daisy [15], I’m not too sure what she’s heading for but again, she’s very studious… unlike me and my wife.”

He continued to the Mirror: “I don’t think they will follow in my music footsteps but I wouldn’t have discouraged them though if they did want to, it’s been a good business for me.

“Every day I still enjoy what I do and when you realise you’re making a living from it, it’s a great, great place to be.

“Many roles in ‘showbiz’ are just wonderful, there’s definitely a much harder world out there than the one I’m in I think.”

Daniel is is believed to have graduated last year, with his proud parents Gary and Dawn by his side.

According Gov.uk website, the average annual salary for trainee doctors in the UK is around £36,000 – a huge contrast to Gary’s eye-watering net worth of £99million.

Jamie Oliver’s daughter Daisy – trainee nurse, £24k

Just like Gary’s son Daniel, Jamie and Jools Oliver‘s daughter Daisy has picked a very honourable career path as a nurse – climbing to the top of the career from the very bottom of the ladder.

The 21-year-old – one of the five kids of the famous chef – recently finished a three-month placement at a hospital based in Leeds.

Those entering the healthcare system as trainees in the NHS typically earn around £24,000 – or more than a 7,200x less than her renowned dad’s eye-watering net worth of £173million.

Proud father Jamie, 49, posted a snap of Daisy in her nursing scrubs, when the foodie paid tribute to her o her 21st birthday earlier this year, in April.

However, it hasn’t all gone smoothly for the 21-year-old – who risked being disciplined for graphic posts on social media about her work as a nurse, as reported by Daily Mail in September.

Some of the posts appeared to go against a strict code of conduct drawn up by nurses’ regulator, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) which has the power to strike off nurses.

Posting on TikTok, where she was seen wearing a fleece with her name embroidered under the NHS logo, Jamie described in graphic detail that she had done a ”bowel evacuation” and added: ”Why am I ok with this?”

In another post, she wrote that she was in A&E for gastritis – inflammation of the stomach lining – which she said was ”most likely caused by the woman who threw her pad in my face”.

Jamie also said the incident had left her with faeces in her mouth.

”’I wish I was joking but I’m not,” wrote the aspiring nurse.

Ulrika Jonsson’s daughter Bo – Norland nanny, £45k

Ulrika Jonsson became a household name in the 90s, appearing on many of the nation’s favourite TV shows – and since then, the 57-year-old Swedish blonde has had an incredible career on our screens.

But whilst her mum has been on practically every show, whether that’s Gladiators or Celebrity Big Brother, Ulrika’s daughter Bo has shunned life in the spotlight, completing training to become a nanny as the prestigious Norland College.

Sharing adorable snaps with the 24-year-old, the former weather girl told how incredibly proud she was of her daughter for reaching the milestone after struggling with academia.

Praising more ”practical” degrees and apprenticeships the mum-of-four said Bo was a ”grafter and a doer”, as she posted photos from the big day at the college, where even the Prince and Princess of Wales‘ childminder learned her skills and craft.

The course – which will set you back a staggering £36k in total – includes martial arts training and stunt driving, and in London, a Normal nanny with one to two years of experience can earn anywhere between £45k to £48k.

Rowan Atkinson’s son Ben – Army officer, £15k

Fast-approaching his 79th birthday in January, Rowan Atkinson has become one of the most recognised household names around the globe, mainly thanks to his legendary role as Mr Bean and Johnny English.

But instead of following in his comedian dad’s footsteps, Rowan’s son Ben, 31, has shifted his focus for a life in the military.

In 2019 he joined the Gurkhas after spending three months in Nepal.

Lieutenant Ben, one of the two kids Rowan had with his former wife makeup artist Sunetra Sastry, was put through a 10-week course and taught about the local culture to join the unique unit of the British Army.

Exeter University graduate Lt Atkinson, whose actor father boasts an impressive car collection including £9.9m McLaren F1 and £400k Rolls Royce, provided a guard of honour in 2018 for the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, and former PM Theresa May at Sandhurst.  

The Gurkhas are soldiers native to the Indian subcontinent that are recruited for the British and Indian army.

They have been part of the British Army for over 200 years.

Gurkha privates start at around £1,200 per month in terms of their salary.  

Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Megan – police officer, £38k

Another world-famous chef whose kid has decided she wants nothing to do with cooking is Gordon Ramsay, 58.

Whilst one of his offsprings, Tilly, 23, has followed in Gordon’s footsteps and has become a TV host, his daughter Megan, 26, is currently working as a police officer.

At her graduation the father-of-six posted a picture on his Instagram of Megan in her cap and gown and wrote: ”So proud of this young Lady … hard work pays off ! Congratulations Megan love you Dad .”

Gordon – who boasts an estimated net worth of £157million – has previously said his kids won’t be left his multi-million pound fortune in his will.

The Kitchen Nightmares legend, who has opened a string of Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, said his children will be getting a 25% deposit on a flat as he prefers them to ”work hard” for their money as it is not his ”number one objective”.

Chatting to The Telegraph, the 58-year-old said: ”It’s [his fortune] definitely not going to them, and that’s not in a mean way; it’s to not spoil them.

”Last time we went to Royal Hospital Road [his restaurant in Chelsea] was for Megan’s 16th birthday, and that was the first time we’ve ever eaten there with the kids.

”They have served the Chelsea pensioners there for Christmas lunch, but not eaten there.

”’They don’t sit with us in first class. They haven’t worked anywhere near hard enough to afford that…I worked my f—— arse off to sit that close to the pilot and you appreciate it more when you’ve grafted for it.”

Carol Vorderman’s daughter Dr Katie – nanoscientist, £40k

At 63, Carol Vorderman is one of the most beloved faces on British TV, after starting her career on Countdown at the age of 21, in 1982.

Outside of her stint on Countdown, the sexy singleton has appeared on Loose Women, Have I Got News for You and Lorraine.

Her appearances have led her to become one of the highest paid women on British TV – but that hasn’t proven to be enough to inspire her daughter Dr Katie to follow in her mum’s footsteps.

The 31-year-old nanoscientist has turned out to be just as smart as her mathematics-savvy mother – however, working in research won’t earn her the same fortune as her mum Carol is worth, £10million.

As a nanotechnologist working in research it’s likely you’ll earn between £25,000 and £35,000 once you’ve completed your PhD. 

At a senior level, nanotechnologists can earn between £30,000 and £40,000. Salaries at this level vary between sectors. University professors or similar can earn upwards of £60,000.

Earlier at the start of the year, it was revealed Dr Katie was taking the noble fight against cancer into space, with grand plans to build a pharmaceutical factory in orbit. 

Dr Katie, whose technology already has the backing of the European Space Agency, hopes to use zero-gravity production to change the face of medicine.

She aims to make antibodies in a crystalline structure, which could transform the method in which they are delivered.

If successful, this huge achievement could lead to cancer patients being able to inject drugs at home rather than spending hours in hospital on a drip every few weeks. 

”If you form them into tiny crystals, you can get a concentration high enough to then inject into the skin in a few minutes,” she told the Sunday Times. 

”You can just do it at home, just like diabetics inject themselves with insulin.”

Emma Thomspon’s son Tindyebwa Agaba – criminal investigator £40k

Emma Thompson is beloved as a British actress – from playing Nanny McPhee to Karen in Love Actually and winning two Oscars.

Outside of the silver screen the 65-year-old has been praised for her campaigns against misogyny and her star-spangled career has led her to be worth an estimated £40 million.

But it seems the world of awards and red carpets hasn’t persuaded her eldest son Tindyebwa Agaba, to follow in her footsteps.

Emma first met Tindy at a refugee council event, at the time, Tindy wasn’t sure whether to trust Emma but she eventually tracked him down and invited him round for a Christmas Eve dinner.

The dinner, that took place in their £15million West Hampstead, North London home, eventually turned into regular stays.

Given his own room, Tindy would stay for weekends which would eventually turn into weeks.

Eventually, the Hollywood couple decided to “informally” adopt him – at the time when Tindy was eligible to make his own legal decisions.

Tindy lost his biological father when he was just nine, at 12, soldiers turned up to his village in Rwanda with machine guns to kidnap its children.

He then arrived at a prison camp where he would remain for three years – being radicalised, brainwashed and trained as a child soldier.

At 16, Tindy eventually escaped Rwanda after a charity worker from Care International helped him board a flight to London to claim asylum.

After months of sleeping rough on the streets of Trafalgar Square, Tindy finally met Emma at the refugee council event.

Tindy’s mum Emma previously revealed how she credited her son with her own personal transformation, claiming that he has “been part of the healing”.

Speaking to the New Yorker, she said: “I’ve been told I was a fierce and restless octopus.

“But they have three hearts and only live for two years.

“So now I’m in search of a more peaceful existence where I’m not so angry and my one heart will last a bit longer.”

In 2009, Tindy obtained British citizenship, Tindy has worked as a detective in London’s Criminal Investigation Division and has a Master’s degree in human rights law.
