Tom Brady Calls Out Daniel Jones For Quitting On Giants
Patriots legendary quarterback Tom Brady took a shot at Daniel Jones over his New York Giants exit after insisting he would never have asked to be released from a team that “committed a lot to you.“
“I don’t know how the whole situation went down, but to think that you would ask to be released from a team that committed a lot to you is maybe different than I would have handled that,” Brady said during the Giants game against the Dallas Cowboys on Fox on Thanksgiving. “I always felt I wanted to get the trust and respect of my teammates regardless of the situation, knowing I was trying to be the best that I could for the team because that was the most important thing.”
Jones left the Giants last week after approaching owner John Mara and asking to be released from his four-year, $160 million contract after a 2-8 start to the 2024 season.
The six-year veteran signal-caller went 216-for-341 through the air for 2,070 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. Jones lost the starting role for the Giants when head coach Brian Daboll benched him ahead of New York’s 30-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 12 and started Tommy Devito.
“There’s just some different things that happen in the NFL,” Brady added. “Everyone makes individual choices. I think we’re all, at points in our careers, faced with different challenges.
“I faced them in college. Some things didn’t go the way I wanted, but the people that mattered the most to me were the guys in the locker room. I showed up every day. I didn’t care if they asked me to be the scout team safety, scout team quarterback, I was gonna do whatever I could to help the team win.”
Jones began the next chapter of his career when he was signed to the Minnesota Viking’s practice squad on Wednesday.
