Former Spurs star had to seek legal advice after Jose Mourinho row
One former Tottenham star was not too happy that his argument with Jose Mourinho was aired in Amazon’s All or Nothing documentary, with the player revealing that he even sought legal advice regarding the same.
Explosive row with Jose Mourinho
One of the most watchable parts of Amazon’s fly-on-the-wall documentary about Spurs was the altercation between Jose Mourinho and Danny Rose.
The left-back was not happy at the fact that he was being overlooked by the Portuguese coach in his team selections and walked into his office one morning to accuse him of having a problem with him.
The England international ranted at his former boss, even suggesting that other players were playing ahead of him even though they had been “s**t in training”.
Danny Rose asked for legal advice
Rose has now explained that he did not know there were cameras in Mourinho’s office as there had been none when Mauricio Pochettino was in charge.
The 34-year-old admitted that he was not too happy that the scene made the final cut of the documentary, confessing that he even spoke to a lawyer about it.
The left-back said on You’ll Never Beat Kyle Walker podcast: “When Poch was there, there were no cameras in his office, he didn’t allow that. So when I’ve gone to knock on the door I’m assuming there’s still no cameras in the office, but they’ve put one in now and I didn’t know that.
“This chat is in December. I’d gone on loan to Newcastle in January, and I didn’t then get notified by one of the lads until May, that they’ve got this and they’re putting it in. So yeah, I wasn’t happy. I had to get legal advice.”
Rose insisted that the kind of argument he had with Mourinho is quite commonplace in football.
He added: “It’s a completely normal conversation. Any player who’s not playing on a Saturday, the first thing you do, knock on the door.”
Mourinho knew the cameras were on
Unlike Rose, Mourinho would have known that there were cameras inside the office and that this conversation would have been recorded.
Cynics will say that the former Tottenham head coach behaved calmy, knowing well that Rose will come off much worse for those who are watching.
Perhaps Mourinho would have not handled the argument as passively if there were no cameras in place, with the 61-year-old being no stranger to confrontation
