1,200 turkey dinners donated to families in need
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A local business donated 1,200 turkey dinners to families across the Capital Region on Friday. The meals, collected by R.J. Valente Companies are being given to local non-profits and food pantries that will distribute them to those in need.
The company said they are hoping to reach more families and ensure that no one goes hungry during the Thanksgiving holiday.
"It's grown to a point where we know it's falling into the right hands," Roddy Valente said. "There are missions from Albany and Schenectady and people reaching out, so whatever request they make, we try to fulfill it. Makes you feel good. It just does. It's a blessing to be able to do this."
Since the annual turkey drive started 11 years ago, more than 12,000 turkeys have been donated.
