England U17 captain trains with Spurs first-team ahead of Man City clash
Ange Postecoglou called up one teenage central defender to train with the senior squad ahead of his side’s trip to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Tottenham dealing with injuries to key men
While Richarlison and Wilson Odobert are out with long-term injuries, it is the injuries in defence that are more pressing for Tottenham ahead of their clash against Manchester City.
Micky van de Ven is out with a hamstring problem and according to reports, the Dutchman is still a few weeks away from recovering (Sky Sports).
Tottenham could also be without vice-captain, Cristian Romero, who picked up a foot injury while featuring for Argentina against Paraguay last week.
Spurs youngster called up to first-team
John Wenham, who regularly breaks news on the Tottenham academy via his Lilywhite Rose social media handle, has revealed that one young centre-back trained with the senior squad this week.
The player in question is 16-year-old centre-back Malachi Hardy, who has been extremely impressive for Tottenham’s Under-18s this season.
The Watford-born defender, who captains England’s Under-17s, has been with the Spurs academy since he was eight years old, and he has now been granted a chance to catch the eye of Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff in training.
Who will make the bench against Man City?
It is highly unlikely that Malachi Hardy is going to make the matchday squad tomorrow even though Tottenham are down to the bare bones at centre-back.
With Ben Davies and Cristian Romero set to start, Archie Gray would be their main backup on the bench and we might potentially see Alfie Dorington also make the trip to the Etihad.
