Sports briefs: Seeds advance into final 16 at Tiburon Challenger
A handful of Round of 32 matches took place on Monday as play continued in the Tiburon Challenger.
Remy Bertola, Colton Smith, No. 8 seed Denis Kudla, Jack Pinnington Jones, and Karue Sell were among the winners who moved on to the Round of 16.
Smith had a noteworthy victory, defeating No. 5 seed Patrick Kypson, 6-3, 6-2.
A pair of Round of 32 matches were cancelled on Monday, including one pitting No. 4 seed Tristan Schoolkate against Ethan Quinn.
Qualifying matches were also held as some of those seeds advanced to the main draw, including No. 1 Nicolas Mejia, No. 10 Christian Langmo, and No. 3 Alexey Zakharov.
Play continues on Tuesday, highlighted by No. 2 seed Learner Tien against Govind Nanda and No. 3 seed J.J. Wolf against Dominic Stephan Stricker.
Hall of Fame
The Redwood High School Athletic Hall of Fame is seeking nominations for athletes, coaches, special recognition, and team categories. Athletes must have graduated in 2010 or before and participated in any sports activity while at Redwood.
