Ragin Cajuns beat Wake Forest on late FG, 41-38
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (KLFY) -- The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns defeated nonconference foe Wake Forest 41-38 on a dramatic, last-minute field goal Saturday.
Kenneth Almendares hit a 31-yard field goal with 52 seconds left in a wild game, in which Louisiana held off a late Demon Deacon charge. Wake Forest's Matthew Dennis missed a potentially game-tying 42-yard field goal as time ran out.
Ben Wooldridge has completed 20 of his 29 passes for 257 yards and three touchdowns, and also ran in for a score from three yards out.
Bill Davis leads the way on the ground with 95 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Lance LeGandre caught two TD passes and Tavion Smith had a TD reception in the game.
Keyon Martin tied a career-high with nine tackles for the Ragin’ Cajuns with Justin Agu adding eight.
Louisiana will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 5 when it opens Sun Belt Conference play at Southern Miss. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. with the game being streamed live on ESPN+.
