'Do you do that on purpose?' C-SPAN host busts GOP lawmaker for mispronouncing 'Kamala'
C-SPAN host Greta Brawner called out Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) after he mispronounced Vice President Kamala Harris' first name.
During a Thursday interview on C-SPAN's Washington Journal, Brawner stopped Burchett while he was complaining about the Harris presidential campaign.
"Congressman, the vice president pronounces her first name Kamala," the C-SPAN host noted. "You mispronounce it. Do you do that on purpose?"
"No, ma'am," Burchett replied. "I don't know how she pronounces it. This is the first time anybody's ever told me that."
"You said Kamala, and it's Kamala," Brawner explained, with two different pronunciations.
"Kamala, OK," Burchett said. "Well, my last name's Burchett, and I dare say nobody's ever — Sean Hannity didn't even get my name right when I was on there, and I don't pitch a fit."
"So it's Kamala?" he continued. "OK, then I will stand corrected."
"And somebody's going to say you're showing bias to her by correcting her and not correcting anybody for me, but I see that as just you being very kind to me."

Brawner also questioned Burchett after he referred to Harris after Biden dropped out of the race as a "DEI hire."
"That's what the president called her," Burchett claimed, stating that Biden referred to her as that. Biden did not use the term DEI hire, but he said "I'm proud to have the most diverse administration in history that taps into the full talents of our country. It starts at the top with the vice president."
"The president actually called her that," said Burchett.
"And then when I quote the President of the United States, I'm being chastised," he complained. "And that's why I think the media in this country is going down the tubes, why nobody's paying attention to it."
