SHARP x Tiffany & Co.
“As cliché as it sounds, we both knew from early on that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together,” Laurence Fortin-Côté explains. “We didn’t have too much in common, but it was easy to see that we had a similar outlook on life, approaching everything we [do] with a creative curiosity.”
The 29-year-old digital content creator met her now-husband, 34-year-old Dylan Wu, when she moved to Toronto from Quebec in 2017.
“Dylan was working at a cafe I would go to every day,” she explains. “I thought he was very charming and secretly hoped he would ask me out when I would visit, which he eventually did.”
The rest, as they say, is history and the pair was married this fall in Quebec City on a private estate.
Their beautiful connection, refined style, and creative virtuosity is perfectly exemplified in luxury jewellery brand, Tiffany & Co. Founded by visionary entrepreneur Charles Lewis Tiffany in 1837, the brand first gained notoriety by procuring the rarest and most extraordinary gemstones. Then in 1886, Tiffany created his most iconic style yet — the engagement ring as we know it today.
Charles Lewis Tiffany was the first jeweller to create the now-famous Tiffany Setting, a flawless six-pronged innovation that allows a solitaire diamond to float above a narrow band. It lets the diamond shine and was an instant success that solidified the jeweller’s savoir-faire amongst his peers and clients.
Now almost two centuries later, the brand is still synonymous with timeless elegance, innovative design, fine craftsmanship, and creative excellence. And its much-expanded Love and Engagement offering continues to set the standard for beautiful engagement rings and wedding bands.
When Wu was choosing Fortin-Côté’s engagement ring, his goal was to not only find a ring she would immediately love, but also to find something that would outlast cycling trends.
“We went ring shopping ‘just for fun’ and I took mental notes on what style and shape she really liked,” Wu admits. “[And] for the main diamond, I prioritized cut and clarity.”
Cut, clarity, colour, and carat weight (better known as the four Cs) are always considered by the artisans that craft the rings at Tiffany. Special priority is always placed on cut; more than any other factor, the cut of the stone determines the brilliance, and overall beauty of the diamond.
“I attach a lot of meaning to the jewellery that I wear,” Fortin-Côté shares. “[And] everything [at Tiffany’s] feels very personal and thoughtful which I think is very important.”
Whether you’re ready to propose, shopping for a wedding band, or looking for something extra special for someone near to your heart, Tiffany’s Love and Engagement Collection is a thoughtful and heart-warming choice that makes the perfect gift to give a loved one.
