The royals need to brace themselves as the new season of The Crown is due to hit UK screens very soon.
On Sunday, the first episode of season six had its premiere in Los Angeles.
It was attended by Elizabeth Debicki, who plays Princess Diana, and Khalid Abdalla, who portrays her lover at the time, Dodi Alfayed.
The new season will reenact the last few months of Princess Diana’s troubled life while exploring Prince Charles at the time as a man who wants her replaced in the public’s opinion with Camilla, played by Olivia Williams.
Also included in the new episode is an alleged disagreement between the future king and Queen Elizabeth II, played by Imelda Staunton.
The Queen and Charles clashed over attempts to get Her Majesty’s public seal of approval on his and Camilla’s relationship.
Still, she refused, stating that their relationship led to two broken marriages, which included Charles’s to Diana and Camilla’s to Andrew Parker Bowles.
The young Prince at the time went as far as to ask if the Queen would attend Camilla’s 50th birthday party as a show of support, to which she politely declined by saying she was going on a factory visit on the day.
Princess Margaret, played by Lesley Manville, can be seen scolding and disagreeing with her for turning her back on Charles’s relationship, saying that for the public to warm to their relationship.
Gradually, the queen warms up to Charles and Camilla’s relationship and tells him: “If you are happy, then I am happy.”
Charles then sets out to try and get the public to open up to his new lover.
However, he soon gets a reality check as they face many challenges, including newspaper front page pictures of Diana holidaying on board the Alfayed yacht in the Mediterranean with her new alleged lover.
Dodi is seen being ushered by his father, Mohamed, played by Salim Daw, to keep pursuing Diana and make her fall in love with him so he can marry her and make his family proud.
But Mohamed’s plans are at risk with the sudden arrival of Dodi’s fiance, US model Kelly Fisher.
His father strictly orders him to get rid of his lover and put all his focus on the princess instead, which he does obediently.
During the final minutes of episode one, the People’s princess is seen coming home to her apartment, which had been decorated to the brim with roses and a box containing a designer watch with a note which simply reads: “Come to Paris.”
The untimely crash, which unfortunately took the princess’s life, isn’t actually shown in the episode, but the final seconds before it happens are featured at the start.
It revolves around a man innocently walking his dog by the roadside in Paris when Diana’s car whizzed past them, pursued by a hoard of paparazzi chasing them on bikes before a deafening loud explosion is heard nearby.
The first four episodes of Season 6, The Crown, will premiere on Netflix in the UK on November 16, with the second half arriving on December 14.Season 6 does not show the crash that led to the princess’s death but the final moment’s can be seen[/caption] The Crown season 6 will premiere in the UK very soon[/caption]
