It’s snowing outside but 70 degrees in my house without heating, a simple window change keeps me warm for free
THERE’S no need to shiver and shake when the temperature goes down with this simple heat-saving secret.
Even in the snow, a homeowner has figured out a trick to keep toasty indoors without spending a fortune.

“This is your annual reminder to take the screens out of your windows,” said Dana Kayal (@danakayalsepiclife).
The pro-tip for heating her house for free also required some natural sunlight.
The foodie, gardener and animal lover explained how taking out the screens on south facing windows was ideal for getting the most bang without spending a buck.
According to Dana, it heats your home by about ten percent.
She explained yet another perk behind her money saving house warming madness: you’ll get a better view sans screen.
“On sunny days I don’t even start my wood stove until 4pm. No electric heat on!” she exclaimed.
Dana was determined to help others save this season.
She showed how even with a pileup of snow outside her window, she didn’t have to shell out a penny to stay warm and cozy.
“It’s nice and cold out there but it is toasty in here because of my big south facing windows.”
She had certainly shocked her fans with this seasonal and simple trick: “Why have I not heard of this? Brilliant.”
“I specifically bought a home with south facing windows for free heat. On sunny days I don’t even turn on the heat until 4pm,” Dana replied.
A close up of her thermometer showed that her space was a comfortable 70 degrees.
According to ecorenovator.org, removing screens on the outside of your window can let in 30% more light and heat.
Thompson Creek Window also explained that removing the screens can add as much as eight degrees to your home on sunny days.
