Report: 21-year-old centre-back has been ‘heavily scouted’ by Spurs
The Daily Mirror have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a close eye on Piero Hincapie ahead of the January transfer window.
Over the last few weeks, we at Spurs Web have relayed various reports stating that signing a centre-back will be one of Tottenham’s main priorities in January (The Standard).
It was reported two weeks ago by GiveMeSport that Marc Guehi, Lloyd Kelly, Ko Itakura and Trevor Chalobah are the four names at the top of Spurs’ wishlist.
It has since been suggested that Tosin Adarabioyo and Sebastian Caceres are also on the North London club’s radar (90 min) while Ange Postecoglou’s men also allegedly have their eyes on the likes of Edmond Taposba (Football Insider) Perr Shuurs (Football Transfers).
Hincapie is also on Tottenham’s January target list
The Mirror have now reported that signing a centre-back will be Johan Lange’s first significant act as Tottenham’s technical director, adding that the Dane has already begun work on identifying targets.
The report provides some of the same aforementioned names but suggests that Tapsoba is not the only Bayer Leverkusen star the Lilywhites have their eye on.
The outlet asserts that his teammate Hincapie is also on the club’s wishlist, with the Ecuadorian said to have been ‘heavily scouted’ by the Premier League side over the last 12 months.
Spurs Web Opinion
Based on the sheer number of centre-backs that we have been linked with over the last few weeks, it does not appear as if Tottenham have settled on a top two or three.
That is to be expected, given the club’s recruitment department has been revamped. Johan Lange, Rob Mackenzie and co would have only recently begun work on identifying the right profile.
