The Route We’ve Decided – Portsmouth CEO Details Transfer Approach
The Fratton Park outfit signed a host of new players this summer to reshape their squad and they have decided to reduce their reliance on loan players moving forward.
Portsmouth signed only three players on loan in the form of Abu Kamara, Alex Robertson and Tino Anjorin and have left two remaining loan spots in the squad untouched.

Cullen stated that Portsmouth’s sole focus is finding the balance between creating a squad with a long-term plan in mind and achieving success as soon as possible.
And the Pompey CEO revealed that Portsmouth have decided to spend on signing young, talented players on a permanent basis to help them achieve their goal.
“You can have a strategy which is all about trying to get the balance right between achieving success at the earliest opportunity, which is what we want to do, versus making sure you can sustain a squad together over the longer term”, Cullen told The News.
“The route we’ve decided was to pay fees to younger talent coming through that’s available to us, we believe that’s’ the right one to do and the loans can be the icing on the cake.
“Perhaps before we weren’t able to do that to the same degree because huge investment was going onto those loan players.”
Under the guidance of John Mousinho, Portsmouth have begun the season with a six-match unbeaten streak and this weekend they will take on Derby County.
