DraftKings was deservedly ripped for offering a 'Never Forget' 9/11 parlay on New York teams
For many, September 11 is a somber day to reflect on the lives lost from the 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States.
For some reason, DraftKings thought it would also be a good time to promote a parlay branded with the “Never Forget” slogan spawned from those tragic events.
Screenshots started popping up on social media Sunday night of a parlay that was apparently deleted Monday morning, and it was as despicable as it sounds. Along with a description of “Bet these New York teams to win tonight on 9/11,” the parlay includes bets for the Mets, Yankees and Jets to all win.
All I can say is wow. DraftKings didn’t think this through at all. This is what happens when a corporation takes itself and nothing else too seriously. They literally trivialized one of the worst days in American history in an attempt to profit from it and didn’t think people would care.
A company spokesperson apologized in a message to FTW.
“We sincerely apologize for the featured parlay that was shared briefly in commemoration of 9/11. We respect the significance of this day for our country and especially for the families of those who were directly affected.”
