Ivana Trump’s beloved Manhattan townhouse went on the market last November after she passed away in July 2022. The price was a whopping $26.5 million, but the property didn’t find any buyers, so it has a new selling point: $22.5 million.
The $4 million “price improvement,” from the co-listing agent Adam D. Modlin of the Modlin Group, hopes to find an owner who is seeking a “grand and lavish” New York City dwelling. It’s located on a “highly coveted block” on the Upper East Side and it’s “designed for luxurious living” with its six stories that “sprawls over 8700 square feet.” Modlin touts that the location presents “a rare opportunity to own a genuine piece of New York City history.”
If it’s such an aspirational piece of real estate, then why is it taking so long to sell? The high price will surely factor in here, but the interior also needs a significant amount of renovation. Let’s be honest, Ivana’s over-the-top design tastes with a leopard-print living room and a pink-marble bathtub doesn’t exactly appeal to everyone. With a sky-high price and redecorating costs, it might just be too much of an undertaking for a family who might be looking for a turn-key residence.Buy: ‘Raising Trump’ by Ivana Trump $17.57
There is also the Donald Trump stigma in New York where many residents don’t want to be associated with the former president. Ivana and Donald Trump were once the toast of the town, but scandal after scandal wore everyone down. In addition to the Donald Trump issue, Ivana passed away in the home after a fall down the staircase, which might scare off a few buyers as well. It’s not an easy property to sell, but perhaps the lowered price will get the foot traffic going again and find the townhouse a new owner with a vision.
