New Haven police seek hit-and-run driver involved in fatal motorcycle crash
A motorcyclist died in New Haven Wednesday night following a hit-and-run.
The accident was reported at about 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Haven and Clay streets, where 41-year-old Jose Rodriguez, driving a Suzuki motorcycle, was involved in a crash with a motorist in a green sedan who took off from the scene, according to the New Haven Police Department.
Rodriguez, of New Haven, was in critical condition when officers arrived and was taken to an area hospital, where he died of his injuries, police said.
“The New Haven Police Department is actively working on this hit-and-run investigation and is seeking the public’s help in identifying the green sedan that was involved in the crash,” Capt. Rose Dell said in a statement.
According to police, Rodriguez was heading north on Haven Street, toward Clay Street, when he collided with a motorist who was heading west on Clay Street through the intersection. The driver in the green sedan was last seen leaving the area heading east on Clay Street toward James Street, police said.
