Tincknell Headlines #88 Proton Porsche Line-Up For Le Mans
Proton Competition’s #88 Porsche 911 RSR 19 has had its driver line-up fully confirmed for the Le Mans 24 Hours, with Harry Tincknell, Jonas Ried and Don Yount present at Scrutineering and ready to drive the car.
For Tincknell, this will be his 10th consecutive Le Mans start and his third in a row with Proton in Am. In the past, he also Le Mans appearences with Jota, Nissan, Ford and Aston Martin, and two class wins to his name.
It will likely be the Briton’s final start in a GTE car, as he is scheduled to move up to the Hypercar ranks in the FIA WEC after Le Mans with the German team aboard its brand new un-raced Porsche 963 alongside Gimmi Bruni.
Jonas Ried (son of Proton owner Christian) and American IMSA regular Yount meanwhile, are both Le Mans rookies and will get their first taste of the Circuit de la Sarthe on Sunday as part of the Test Day.
Both Ried and Yount only learned that they would be part of this effort two days ago. “For me, it was around the same time as for Don. Maybe a few hours later for me then for him. But obviously it’s a short call. Maybe it affected a bit the preparation for it. But as well, I’m ready for it!” the younger Ried told DSC today.
This confirmation comes after both Brendan Iribe and Ollie Millroy pulled out of the race some time ago.
This is expected to be the final race of the WEC season for Proton’s #88 Porsche, which is due to be parked after Le Mans. From Monza onwards, the team will scale back to a single-car effort in GTE Am as part of its move into Hypercar.
