CIF state golf: De La Salle goes back-to-back, celebrates another team title
De La Salle got great performances from a trio of players at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach to win its second consecutive California Interscholastic Federation state team championship.
The Concord powerhouse shot 9-under 346 on Wednesday to finish 10 strokes ahead of runner-up Torrey Pines, which shot 1-over 356.
Crystal Springs Uplands was third at 363.
DLS sophomore Joshua Kim and Amador Valley’s Kush Arora tied for second in the individual competition, each shooting 5-under 66.
Capistrano Valley Christian’s UCLA-bound Luke Powell shot 7-under 64 to place first.
In addition to Kim, De La Salle had two others shoot below par.
Jack Jerge’s 4-under round included one eagle. He tied for fourth. Jaden Dumdumaya, who last week captured the NorCal individual title, shot 1-under to tie for 12th.
Their DLS teammate James Williams shot even-par 71. He tied for 15th with Foothill’s Brandon Knight, last year’s state individual champion.
Crystal Springs had two players finish below par, Edan Cui (3-under) and Griffin Chiu (1-under). Cui tied for sixth and Chiu tied for 12th.
