Micah Parsons Is Sick And Tired Of The Justin Fields Slander
Justin Fields had a far better season in 2022 after his rough rookie year. His passer rating improved by 12 points, and he finished with the second-most rushing yards by a quarterback in a single season in NFL history. Yes, the Chicago Bears finished 3-14, but how anybody can blame him for that is short-sighted beyond belief. Yet it hasn’t stopped several people from saying he may not have what it takes to play at a championship level in this league. This stems primarily from his pedestrian passing yardage total. One person tired of hearing this ongoing criticism is Micah Parsons.
The superstar pass rusher for the Dallas Cowboys is good friends with the Bears quarterback. They became closer during the pre-draft process in 2021. Fields actually had one of his best games last year against Parsons’ defense. The two have a mutual respect for each other. So when somebody stated there was no way the addition of wide receiver D.J. Moore would help the Bears quarterback evolve as a passer, Parsons took issue with it and fired back on Twitter.
Micah Parsons makes a fair point.
In the three seasons before joining the Philadelphia Eagles, A.J. Brown averaged 998 yards and eight touchdowns. Stefon Diggs averaged 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns before joining Buffalo. Moore has averaged 1,079 yards and five touchdowns. He absolutely should be mentioned in the same category as the other two, especially since he had far worse quarterbacks to work with. Brown had Ryan Tannehill in Tennessee. Diggs had Kirk Cousins and Case Keenum.
Moore was stuck with Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold, and Baker Mayfield. If Fields is as capable as Micah Parsons believes, then Moore should be the key to unlocking his full potential as Brown did for Jalen Hurts and Diggs for Josh Allen. This isn’t even accounting for the improvements (on paper) they made to the offensive line with Nate Davis and Darnell Wright. One thing is for sure, a lot of people will eat crow if Fields takes a giant leap forward as a passer this season. Parsons has his popcorn ready.
