SGA Fundraising Golf 2023
Singapore – The Singapore Golf Association’s (SGA) Fundraising Golf 2023 was hosted by Sentosa Golf Club at the spectacular Tanjong Course, on Wednesday (29 March) & Thursday (30 March).
With Lexus as it’s main sponsor, the two-day fundraiser saw more than 300 donors and guests across both days, including Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong, who graced the event as the Guest-of-Honour.
Participants had a chance to win various attractive novelty prizes, including hole-in-one prizes such as the Lexus UX 250 Executive model, while interacting with SGA national and junior players.
Singapore’s global Mandopop superstar, JJ Lin, who is one of SGA’s golf ambassadors, was unable to attend the event as he was overseas on his JJ20 World Tour, but shared a special video message thanking everyone for their contributions and support of SGA’s high performance and junior development programs.
A total of more than $360,000 was raised for SGA’s high performance & junior development programs, which will be further matched dollar-for-dollar by the government through the One Team Singapore Fund (OTSF).
“I’m extremely grateful to everyone who has been supporting us over the years. It is a confidence booster as we know that there are many people behind us, who believe in our journey and our potential. The continued support from our donors and sponsors who have stood by us during our highs and lows, is particularly heartening. With the SEA Games coming up, it’s a bigger motivation because we know we’re playing for these supporters and not just ourselves,” said Aloysa Atienza, the 2022 SEA Games Silver medalist who will be representing Singapore at the upcoming 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia this May.
This event was made possible with the unwavering support from SGA Partners – Lexus, FootJoy, EFG and OneRHT foundation, as well as all the generous donors and sponsors for the SGA Fundraising Golf 2023 including Haidilao.
“It was our pleasure to be part of the Fundraising Golf Event to help raise funds through the One Team Singapore Fund (OTSF). We are committed to nurturing young golf talent on their golf journey and personal excellence both on and off the course. Lexus has always been an advocate of golf which reflects Lexus’s core values, and it connects us with our Lexus customers who value the dedication to craft and excellence.’ says Jasmmine Wong, CEO of Inchcape Greater China and Singapore.
Fundraiser Organising Chairman and SGA Honorary Treasurer Eddie Chua said, “It is very gratifying to know that the contributions from donors will go towards further strengthening SGA’s high-performance and junior development programs, providing the athletes with the resources and training to reach their full potential. These include valuable opportunities such as overseas competitions and training camps to hone their skills.. We are also glad that the fundraising event was a success and that all donors and guests enjoyed themselves.”
“We would like to sincerely thank all donors and supporters for their generosity in contributing to SGA’s high-performance and junior development program. I am confident that with the unwavering support from key stakeholders including our sponsors and donors, our athletes will be able to create a legacy of excellence and continue to produce talented athletes who will represent us proudly on the international stage as they chase their Olympic dreams and bring glory to Singapore,” said Tan Chong Huat, SGA President.
