Emily Ratajkowski accused of betraying pal Olivia Wilde with Harry Styles makeout session

Emily Ratajkowski is reportedly “begging” pal Olivia Wilde’s forgiveness after video went viral over the weekend, showing the model making out with Wilde’s ex-boyfriend Harry Styles on the streets of Tokyo.

“This is a betrayal,” a source told Page Six, explaining that Ratajkowski, 31, and Wilde, 39, are friends. Now that Ratajkowski’s flirtation — or more — with Styles has gone public via a Daily Mail video, she’s “begging (Wilde) for forgiveness,” the source said.

Indeed, most women wouldn’t be thrilled to learn that a good friend has started to date an ex-lover. A woman might be able to get past the awkwardness or the sense of betrayal if the romance ended amicably and she realized that her friend and her ex could be happy together.

In Wilde’s case, she might also be relieved to be done with Styles, 29, since the video seems to show that the “As It Was” heartthrob might not be a good kisser. At least, that’s social media’s take on his lovemaking skills.

But generally, it’s considered to be a violation of the unwritten rules of female friendship for one friend to flirt with another friend’s significant other, according to various online advice columns. It’s also not OK to flirt with a friend’s ex or to start dating that ex.

The supposed rupture in Ratajkowski’s friendship with Wilde began over the weekend when the Daily Mail published a video of the model and Styles “swapping spit” on a street in Tokyo.

Wilde and the Grammy winner broke up in November after two very intense years together. Their romance became a hot gossip item as it developed against the backdrop of Wilde’s messy split from ex-fiance Jason Sudeikis and Wilde and Style’s  work together on the troubled production of “Don’t Worry Darling.” Wilde was the movie’s director, Styles was one of its stars, and Wilde reportedly had a falling out with her other star, Florence Pugh, because of her romance with Styles and other issues.

During and after the “Don’t Worry Darling” drama, Wilde appeared to count on Ratajkowski as a good friend, as well as an ally.

When Wilde faced criticism for her relationship with Styles, the self-styled Emrata came to her defense, saying she felt protective of strong, independent women who get picked apart for standing their ground on some issue.

“There’s an amazing Gloria Steinem quote that says something like, ‘When a woman tries to be multifaceted, the world will come for her. And that will be the moment she needs her sisters the most,'” Ratajkowski told Elle UK in an interview titled “The Audacity of Emily Ratajkowski.

“I’m butchering the quote, but I’m watching pop culture through that lens,” Emrata continued. “And in the past year with Amber Heard and Olivia Wilde and the craziness of putting them in this box as if they’re monsters or witches… There’s nuance to it, but when you see the way that the whole world reacts to women, it’s really hard not to want to go to an extreme side of it. I feel very protective.”

In June, Wilde and Ratajkowski were photographed seated together in the VIP section at Styles’ Paris concert. They looked like they were having fun, chatting and dancing. A few weeks ago on March 12, the friendship looked as though it was still going strong when they were photographed hanging out at the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscars party.

As Ratajkowski reportedly seeks Wilde’s forgiveness, Wilde is trying to distance herself from this latest bit of tabloid drama that brings focus back on her personal life.

“She is staying far away from this and taking the high road,” the source told Page Six.

“She is focused on her kids and her work,” the source also said. “She wants nothing to do with this mess.”

Wilde also has her hands full with her bitter court battle with Sudeikis over custody of their 8-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter. According to court documents obtained by the Daily Mail last week, Wilde accused the “Ted Lasso” star, 47, of litigating her “into debt.”

Wilde and Sudeikis started dating in November 2011 and got engaged in January 2013. They separated in November 2020, around the time she started production on “Don’t Worry Darling” and met Styles.

Wilde and Sudeikis are fighting over where the children will live. Wilde wants the kids to remain in Los Angeles, while Sudeikis wants them to live with him in Brooklyn. Wilde has said there’s no reason for the children to live on the East Coast, as 6-year-old Daisy never went to school there and 8-year-old Otis only attended one semester of kindergarten in New York.

Sudeikis has unsuccessfully pushed for the case to be heard in New York City. Last week, a judge in New York rejected Sudeikis’ request to have the case moved there, saying that “it is in the interest of substantial justice that the parties’ child support petition be heard in California,” TMZ reported.

In court documents obtained by the Daily Mail, Wilde accused Sudeikis of trying to unnecessarily prolong the custody dispute, knowing he is wealthier and has more money to spend on lawyers than she does. She also went further, accusing the former “Saturday Night Live” star of being “underhanded,” acting in “bad faith” and jeopardizing their children’s future by using “intimidation or trickery” to win the custody fight, the Daily Mail said.

However, on Saturday, the former couple looked like they on good terms as they watched their son at his soccer game, Page Six said.

Meanwhile, Ratajkowski is in the process of divorcing Sebastian Bear-McClard, 42, after four years of marriage. They share 2-year-old son, Sylvester.
