23 games in 83 days: This Man Utd star has now played over 2000 minutes in 2023
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been one of the most active players in 2023 and he has now played over 2000 minutes for club and country in the calendar year.
The Portuguese has been an undisputed starter for United in the number 10 role this season and he has missed just two games against Aston Villa and Charlton Athletic due to suspensions.
Hence, he has shown exceptional fitness levels over a hectic campaign but this has not hampered his performances. His form has been particularly impressive since the turn of the year.
The 28-year-old has bagged seven goals and eight assists from 1846 minutes of normal time for United in 2023. He recently added another assist for Portugal in their Euro 2024 qualifiers (164 minutes).
Fernandes has now played a stunning 2010 minutes over 23 appearances in 83 days. This is a truly admirable statistic, considering the playmaker gives his best in almost every game.
The Portuguese will now get a breather for a few days and he will certainly need that, considering United could be playing as many as 19 games between now and the end of the season.
The Red Devils have another 12 matches left in the Premier League. The club could play seven more if they manage to go all the way in the Europa League and FA Cup this campaign.
United have no real competitor for Fernandes in his position. His marathon run of games look set to continue. It won’t surprise us if he is not substituted for the rest of the season.
