AN INCREASING number of people are using scent boosters in a bid to leave their washing smelling extra fresh.
But if you’re a fan of the product but not so much the hefty price tag that comes with it, then you’re in luck – because a savvy woman (@zerowastecartel) has revealed how you can make your own on a budget.

In a clip shared to TikTok, she penned: “Let’s make DIY laundry freshener.”
The social media user, who is keen on sustainable living, then begins by saying: “Before I start with my sustainable journey, I love using scent boosters in my laundry but I stopped using them ages ago.
“Now I make them on my own using 1.5 cups of Epsom salts, 5 cups baking soda, 20-30 drops essential oils.”
She then goes on to say how you simply mix the ingredients together before storing them in a sealable jar.
“I love how versatile I can be with the scents, depending the season or whatever I’m feeling,” she enthuses.
“Just pop in your laundry, add a laundry detergent sheet and just sprinkle in a couple of spoonfuls of the mixture depending on your load size.
