So here are some of the great savings I’ve found for the over 60s.

There will be lots more in your local shops and restaurants – make it your mission to make the most of them.

SUPERMARKET SAVERS: Asda offers the over 60s a bowl of soup and a roll for £1, until the end of March.
Plus, older shoppers can pop into the store’s cafe on a Wednesday to get 10 per cent off.
Tuesday’s the magic day at Iceland when older shoppers can save 10 per cent in store if they show proof of age.
AGE ADVANTAGE: If you have a Boots Advantage Card and are a member of the store’s Over 60s Rewards, you’ll get a whopping eight points for every pound spent on Boots products.
Each point is worth 1p. There are also one-off offers.
Put April 26 in your diary, when members can save 10 per cent when they spend £20 or more.
SPECS APPEAL: As well as getting free NHS Eye tests after you hit 60, you can also get great deals on glasses.
If you buy a pair of glasses from Specsavers’ for £69 or above, you’ll get 20 per cent off. That includes frames and lenses.
At Boots Opticians, you can save 20 per cent on your first pair of glasses or prescription sunglasses, plus get every additional pair half price.
