Cops search butcher’s & forensics scour for new evidence as suspect arrested over missing girl mystery
COPS are searching a butcher’s shop after a man was arrested in connection with the disappearance of a schoolgirl.
The 11-year-old was found ‘safe and well’ last night after a desperate search in Galashiels, Selkirkshire, on Sunday and yesterday.
The butchers shop on Main Street is closed and being guarded by police[/caption] Forensic officers are continuing their investigation today[/caption]Cops confirmed that a man, aged 53, has been arrested in connection with the girl’s disappearance.
Officers could be seen searching Millers of Melrose on Main Street today as they continued their investigation into the disappearance.
Images from the scene show a police vehicle outside the premises, which has been closed for business.
Forensic teams were also spotted combing an area near Montgomerie Terrace in the nearby village of Gattonside.
A Police Scotland statement read: “A 53-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of an 11-year-old girl from Galashiels, who was reported missing on Sunday, 5 February.
“The girl was traced at a property in the Galashiels area around 9.30pm on Monday, 6 February. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
Officers revealed late last night that the girl had been found around 9:30pm at a property in the area.
It came after extensive searches by locals, police and specialist search and rescue teams.
