Leeds United Chat • Re: Patrick Bamford
Was it down to empty stadiums that they played well or was it that they had both had full seasons getting used to the intensity under Bielsa so they were fitter and no longer out of breath when chances came there way? W have seen lots of players at City struggle in their first season and then excel in their second and I think that was the likely case with those 2. If you're running on fumes then your cross or shot is going to be hit with tired legs and a tired brain. Fast forward a season (Harrison was a bit part player in Bielsa's first season as was Bamford and both were also not used to playing every match for their previous clubs) so they were both now used to playing every match and their bodies were able to cope with the rigours of Bielsaball leading to better decision making. That was the point of all those murderball sessions so that players got used to making the right decisions even when knackered so that in the matches they were less knackered bt also going to make the right decisions. This is a VERY overlooked and valid point.
