I’m a cleaning pro and swear by a £1.50 spray for getting rid of mould – it’s so effective, I use it all over my house
A CLEANING pro has taken to Instagram to share how she tackles spots of mould in her home – and the one product you need will only cost you £1.50.
Toni, known online as @toni_interior, regularly shares cleaning and interior design tips with her 97,900 followers.
In a new video, she shares how she gets rid of black mould for good – and the secret is a £1.50 spray from Wilko.
The Wilko Original White Vinegar Spray is available both online and in-store.
During the short video, Toni is seen spraying the white vinegar spray directly onto some spots of mould on her walls and skirting boards.
She wrote: “Let it sit for one hour!
Then, using a microfibre cloth, she wipes the mould away, leaving both the walls and skirting board looking clean.
She then instructs her followers to spray the area again and leave it overnight.
Finally, she paints over the area with Ronseal’s Anti Mould paint.
She added: “Leave the paint to dry for a couple days if you’re going to paint the entire wall!”
Below the reel, she wrote: “How to get rid of mould on walls for good!
“Ok my house is almost 100 years old and this is the 2nd time in 22 years that I’ve had this problem with mould (not bad when you think it’s only happened twice in over 20 years).
“The problem is these single brick bay windows.
“I use @lovewilko white vinegar and it’s the best, not just for cleaning but also for these little cleaning jobs we hate!
“I also left it overnight to ensure all the mould was gone!
“Then I used @ronseal.uk which was the paint I used the first time I encountered mould in this exact spot about 11 years ago!
“(I didn’t use white vinegar back then I just washed the wall and painted it with this paint).
“So it’s done well considering I didn’t eliminate the mould correctly!
“I hope this helps you out if you live in an old house like me!”
Fans loved her advice, with the video gaining more than 4,900 likes and 733,000 views.
In the comments, Toni’s followers shared their reactions, with one writing: “
Another said: “I’ve always used bleach but the mould returns after a few weeks. Worse than ever this year as I’m rarely putting the heating on. Will give white vinegar a try, fingers crossed it works better than bleach.”
Although not all were convinced, with some labelling it just a short-term fix.
One said: “Nooo you have to find and repair the source. What does the brickwork look like on the other side of this?”
Someone else put: “Will never prevent mould from coming back. Any de-moulder spray does the same as the white vinegar.
“Doesn’t matter how many times you put anti mould blocker on, always comes back through again.”
