Guest workers, right-wing members clash in Tirupur
A group of guest workers and two local youths got into a fight at a bakery in Tirupur city on January 14th. The video of the incident went viral on social media and the city police haven't received any complaints yet. It is to be noted that hundreds of guest workers are employed with a banian company at Thilakar Nagar near Anupparpalayam in Tirupur city. The 15 Velampalayam police said the incident occurred on January 14th when a guest worker went to a nearby bakery where two local youths who were members of a rightwing outfit were smoking cigarettes. The guest worker asked them to smoke outside the bakery premises immediately and the duo started assaulting the guest worker. He managed to flee and came back with another two guest workers. The rightwing outfit members he said assaulted them as well and went to the banian company where more than 20 guest workers came out with belts stones and thrashed the duowhen alerted the 15 Velampalayam police rushed to the spot and held talks with the two groups. They were not ready to lodge complaints and the issue was settled amicably.
