Soccer Legend Pelé's Daughter Shares Update After He's Hospitalized Amid Cancer Battle
Pelé has hospitalized amid his battle with cancer.
On Wednesday (November 30), ESPN Brasil reported that the 82-year-old Brazilian soccer legend had been admitted to the Sao Paolo Hospital Albert Einstein with “generalized swelling” and was undergoing several tests for more in-depth assessment of his health issues.
After the news broke, Pelé‘s daughter Kely Nascimento released a statement on her father’s condition.

“Hi my friends. Lots of alarm in the media today concerning my dad’s health,” Kely wrote on Instagram. “He is in the hospital regulating medication. Some of my siblings are visiting [him in] Brazil.”
Kely continued, “There is no emergency or new dire prediction. I will be there for New Years and promise to post some pictures. Really and truly, we appreciate the concern and love!! ????????????”
Pelé had a tumor removed from his colon back in September 2021 and has since been in and out of the hospital for treatment.
If you didn’t know, Pelé helped Brazil win three World Cups — in 1958, 1962 and 1970 — and is the country’s all-time leading goalscorer, with 77 goals in 92 games.
